Best dressed: My favorite transmogs

Earlier in May Z and Cinder created a new topic for their blog challenge:

Best dressed: We want to see your best transmogs, and hear the story behind them. How did you come up with them? How long did it take you to farm the pieces? And just how often do you change your outfits? Let us know!

I love to create transmogs for my characters but I hate to farm transmog gear because it might take weeks or even months for the item you want to drop and I don’t have the patience to run a dungeon or raid again and again every day or week. Sometimes when I create an outfit it’s because I find an item I just HAVE TO use and then I have to create a whole set for it. But usually I just use full sets that I like. I don’t change my transmog very often because I find something I love and then I stick with it for a while.

Wrathful and The Stars mage

I leveled my mage to 110 in April but didn’t have any nice transmogs to use, so I bought the Wrathful armor and I was lucky enough to get the hidden artifact appearance.

  • Wrathful Gladiator’s Silk Armor
  • The Stars’ Design (Felo’melorn)

Cycle druid

The Cycle armor is from Mists of Pandaria challenge mode and it’s one of my favorite druid sets in the game.

  • Hood of the Cycle
  • Branches of the Cycle
  • Robes of the Cycle
  • Gloves of the Cycle
  • Waistguard of the Cycle
  • Envoy of Goldrinn (Scythe of Elune)

Celestial Harmony shaman

Vestments of the Celestial Harmony is the tier 16 set from Siege of Orgrimmar. Here without the belt because I thought it looked better like this. The weapon is from Throne of Thunder and shield from Dragon Soul. I’ve had these items for years but didn’t make an outfit of them until very recently.

  • Cowl of Smoking Dreams
  • Fleshsmoke Chain Shoulders
  • Tunic of Celestial Harmony
  • Handwraps of Celestial Harmony
  • Legwraps of Celestial Harmony
  • Torall, Rod of the Shattered Throne
  • Timepiece of the Bronze Flight

Golden warrior

This transmog was inspired by the Cyprus set I made for Mog the World. I wanted to create a similar golden set with items I already had and this is what I came up with.

  • Helm of Burning Righteousness
  • Dawnsteel Shoulders
  • Ritssyn’s Ruminous Drape
  • Heroic Judicator’s Chestguard
  • Conqueror’s Gauntlets
  • Girdle of the Lightbearer
  • Conqueror’s Legplates
  • Conqueror’s Greaves
  • Warswords of the Valarjar

Which transmog is your favorite?

How WoW reminds me of my home

There is a new topic up on Z & Cinder’s Blog Challenge!

Which zone or area in WoW reminds you of your home?

I suggested this topic and I’ve written about it before, but I thought it would be fun to do it again because there are so many new bloggers out there who could take on the challenge. So I’m excited to see what everyone comes up with. Do you want to join or learn more about the blog challenges? You can find info about it here.

There are many beautiful zones and areas in WoW, but there have always been some that have felt special to me because they remind me of where I’m from. In my last post about this topic here I mentioned Storm Peaks, Howling Fjords, Grizzly Hills and Kun-Lai Summit. But now with the Broken Isles I have two new zones: Highmountain and Stormheim which both remind me a lot of Bergen and Norway.

Stormheim reminds me a lot of Norway because of the vrykuls, their names, houses, ships which are inspired by vikings. The nature with mountains, the sea that kind of looks like a fjord, pine trees and the forest with orange and yellow trees.

Even the name Stormheim sounds Norwegian because storm is the same in Norwegian and heim means home. Other names that are inspired by Norwegian is Haustvald which means fall violence, and Hafr Fjall, hafr is a name and fjall (fjell) is mountain. So I always think of Norway when I fly around in Stormheim.

This picture shows parts of the trail up to the mountain Rundemanen (568 m) in Bergen. 1 km of the trail goes along the side of the mountain, where the mountain goes straight down on one side. You can’t really see it in this picture. But the trail reminds me of the narrow hiking trails up the mountains in Highmountain and Stormheim. If you haven’t tried them yet, then you should get out your ground mount or just run without a mount because the trails are really narrow.

Highmountain has pine trees, waterfalls, moose and tall wind-blown snowcapped mountains which we also got here. Bergen is surrounded by mountains, but none as tall as Highmountain Summit. The tallest mountain in Bergen is Ulriken at 643 m. Here is a photo of Ulriken and the view of the city from Ulriken.

Every time I see a mountain either it be in real life or in-game I always think “I have to get up there”. If it’s in-game then I have to walk up if it’s possible, not use a flying mount. Sometimes I wish I could fly up on a mountain in real life, but I don’t have a helicopter, wings or even a mount so I have to use my legs.

I haven’t been to any very tall mountains but there are so many great hiking trails and mountains around here so I doubt I’ll ever get tired of living here.

Highmountain Summit has a beautiful and inspiring message on a weathered parchment at the top:

In honor of those who ascend to unimaginable heights. May your spirit continue through the dreams of others who follow…

So, which zone or area in WoW reminds you of your home?

The Real Neat Blog Award

Cymre and Kamalia nominated me for the Real Neat Blog Award.

Thank you! real-neat-blog-award

The rules are:

  • Thank and link the person who nominated you
  • Answer the seven questions your nominator has provided
  • Nominate 7 other bloggers and create 7 questions for them

Cymre’s questions

  1. How would you pass the time during a blackout?
I would probably read a book.
  2. If you could be any superhero for a day, who would you be and why?
I would be Wonder Woman because she’s an amazing character, strong and with many useful abilities
  3. What is one thing you love collecting or loved collecting as a child/adult?
I used to collect many things as a child, but my favorite thing was joker cards because I got inspired by one of my favorite books The Solitaire Mystery by Norwegian author Jostein Gaarder.
  4. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Australia because I could visit my relatives, half sisters, aunts, uncles and cousins that I’ve never met before. I want summer, sun and beaches, and there are so many places and things I would like to see and explore.
  5. If you could only take one item to a deserted island, what would it be?
Can I bring a boat so I can get home again?
  6. Who is your main and why do you love playing her/him?
My main is Syrco, a balance druid, but I play my alt, a resto shaman, as much as if not more than my main. They have been my favorite characters since Wrath of the Lich King. I like balance druid because I can look like a big fat owl and go crazy with laser beams. Resto shaman is fun because I can heal big groups at a time and I like how chain heal jumps around.
  7. Favourite phone app?
The app I use the most is Pokemon GO. I play when I walk to or from the bus, when I’m waiting for something or maybe I decide to go for a walk just to play.

Kamalia’s questions

  1. What locations in WoW have the best background music?
I don’t remember all the exact locations, but some of my favorite music is Night Elves, Invincible, Arthas My Son, The Whispering Forest and all the music in Ulduar.
  2. Are there any ways in which WoW (or other games) has influenced or inspired things you do in your pay-the-bills career?
No, I don’t think so, nothing comes to mind.
  3. Which calculator format do you prefer — TI (enter numbers and operations as you would write them on paper) or HP (reverse Polish)?
I have no idea what that means, I hate math.
  4. What was the most memorable book that you read/movie that you watched last year? What made it so memorable?
Book: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child because I love the Harry Potter books and I always wished for another book from the Harry Potter universe. The book took me back to the wizarding world and Hogwarts. It was an amazing journey.
  5. If you could take six months off from your current job and go back to college for a semester and study anything you wanted, what class(es) would you take?
I never went to college because I still have left to finish some classes from high school. My plan is to go to college or university but I’m not sure what I want to study.
  6. Give me a recipe for something that you like to make for dinner when you don’t have much time or energy for cooking.
One of my favorite things to make is actually pretty quick.
Fry minced chicken, add taco seasoning. Cut tomatoes and cucumber. Heat frozen pita breads. Roughly mash one avocado, add lime juice, some salt and pepper. Spread sour cream and avocado in the pita bread, then add chicken, tomatoes and cucumber, more avocado and sour cream on top.
  7. My current favorite chocolate bar is Chocolove’s “Holiday” bar, which is 55% cacao chocolate with pecans, currants, dried cherries, walnuts, hazelnuts, candied orange peel, and candied ginger — every square is a different delight! What’s your favorite sweet treat of the moment?
I could eat a giant Toblerone every day, it’s so good! Luckily they don’t sell the big ones here and the small ones are so expensive, so I don’t eat them very often.

I haven’t been very active on my blog or read many blogs lately. Many bloggers I followed have either stopped writing or already been nominated, so I’m only going to nominate Class and Cidien.

But if you read this and haven’t been nominated, then feel free to answer my questions and let me know so I can read it.

My questions

  1. Do you have a blog post you are particularly proud of?
  2. Which WoW companion do you wish was your real pet?
  3. What makes you laugh?
  4. You’re going to BlizzCon, what panels are you most excited to see?
  5. Which WoW character would you like to cosplay?
  6. Your favorite holiday destination?
  7. Which game was your favorite as a child?
