Say hello to my new computer

My new computer arrived on Wednesday! I was so surprised when I woke up to the message that I could pick it up at the post office because I thought it would take longer to build and send it. I placed the order on September 26th, got a mail that they had sent it September 30th and it was at the post office October 1st.

What’s in the box?

I’ve been in need of a new computer for quite some time now. You might have read in my I’m not prepared for WoD post that my old computer didn’t have much time left. My boyfriend and I have both been working a lot this summer and we’re still working as much as we can, so we decided we could afford to buy a new computer now so I don’t have to struggle with the problems of my old computer on Warlords of Draenor release. I think I would have bought a new computer even if my old one still worked because I’ve never had a really good computer before and my old computer was two years old and it didn’t perform as well as it used to.

It was good that we decided to buy it now because my old computer has been acting really weird this week. One day it worked fine, the next day it didn’t start, the day after it started but it was stuck on Windows log in and if it started properly it freezed and crashed when I tried to do something. I’ll send it to Asus, hopefully they’ll figure out what the problem is and maybe they can fix it. But it might take a while. Last time I sent in a computer, it took almost two months before I got it back.

I don’t know much about computers but I had already decided to buy one from Komplett which is the largest online computer store in Scandinavia. They have so much to choose from so you’ll always find something that fits your needs or price range. You can buy all the parts and build it yourself or get them to build it for you which includes a 3 year warranty. It took me a while to choose which computer to get. My boyfriend and I spent a lot of time reading up on different parts and Komplett’s customer service was of great help. I finally decided on Komplett Gamer Premium i45, which was on sale, but changed a few parts.

My Komplett Gamer Premium i45:

Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl
Cooler Master G750M, 750W PSU
Intel Core i7-5820K, Socket-LGA2011-3
Intel Air Cooling TS13A
ASUS X99-S, Socket 2011-3
Crucial DDR4 2133MHz 4GB
Crucial DDR4 2133MHz 4GB
MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4GB PhysX
Crucial MX100 SSD 256GB 2,5″ 7mm
Seagate Barracuda 1TB SATA3.0
Samsung DVD Writer, SH-224DB SATA

CM Storm Devastator – MS2K & MB24
BenQ 24″ LED GL2450HE

The keyboard and mouse bundle was really cheap and I don’t require much of a keyboard as I’m still using my old Belkin n52te keypad, which I might upgrade soon to a Razer Tartarus or Razer Orbweaver. I gave the mouse to my boyfriend who needed an upgrade from his old Logitech MX518. I’m still using my Razer Naga which I want to upgrade to a new one soon because I want mechanical keys and a tilt-click scroll wheel.

This computer is a major upgrade from my old one. I haven’t had much time to test it yet but hope it will be able to run games on high settings and without any FPS problems for a few years at least.

Our gaming room at the moment

Our gaming room is almost finished now. The only things missing from it right now is a wider desk so both computers can fit on it and then we’ll have some free space to the left where we can fit two bookshelves. Of course I would like some decorations on the walls, but it’s not high on the priority list right now.

When did you buy a new computer? What does your gaming room or office look like?

  1. Ahh, the joys of a new computer! I think we both actually used to have the same Asus laptop, and mine completely packed it in last month. I just went to turn it on one day and it wouldn’t go past the Windows loading screen. Thankfully I had cracked it with having such terrible graphics lag that my husband cobbled together a PC for me and everything has been dandy since (Though it’s nowhere near as impressive as your new one! Turn it up to 11 indeed [Berdache’s comment means it’s pretty powerful and will be capable of amazing things, I believe])

    1. Yeah, I think I remember that we both had the same one :) It should have lasted longer than the two years I’ve had it, so I think it’s broken and it could be fixed, but I couldn’t wait for them to repair it and I really wanted a good computer for once because I’ve never had a really good computer before. Hopefully this one will last much longer :P
