There are plenty of fun discoveries all around Pandaria, so it’s not like they’ve forgotten about us who loves a small easter egg, hunting rares or collecting vanity and fun items. You’ve most likely heard of the Relic Hunter where you are to find 20 lost treasures hidden in Pandaria and Riches of Pandaria which are hidden grey items which gives a great amount of experience and vendor for around 100 gold.

I’d like to share with you some of my favorite easter eggs, references and fun discoveries in Pandaria.

The Watchers on the Wall

Shado-Pan Wallwatchers can be found on the wall in Pandaria and when you click them they’ll say “We are the watchers on the wall, We are the sword in the shadows.” which is a reference to the Night’s Watch in Game of Thrones.

Up

On a mountain top outside Sri-La Village in the Jade Forest a house with balloons attached to it can be found. Inside the house is a male pandaren named Kar, outside is a grummle named Rusty Nail with a big backpack and there is also a dog called Dig. A great reference to one of my favorite movies, Up.

Lonesome George

or Lon’li Guju as he’s been named in the game is a flying turtle in Zouchin Village in Kun-Lai. He’s a reference to the Lonesome George who was the last known Pinta Island tortoise. In the game he’s got wings and flies around the coast looking very happy. And if you do a /wave, /hug or /love at him, he’ll follow you around for a while.

Adele

On the border of Townlong Steppes and Dread Wastes there is an area called The Widening Deep. If you fly around there a little bit and look closely you might discover a female pandaren rolling and rolling in the deep. A reference to the artist Adele and her song “Rolling in the Deep”.

Ferdinand

He’s a yaungol sitting under the beautiful trees surrounded by flowers in the Arboretum in Jade Forest. It’s a reference to the story about Ferdinand the Bull who would rather smell flowers than fight in bullfights. You might have seen him in the famous Disney Christmas show From All of Us to All of You.

The yellow brick road

Far south in the Jade Forest a picture can be seen on the a wall. It looks like the road to Oz in the Wizard of Oz.

The Jade Witch

You might have done the quest about the Jade Witch in the Jade Forest. She turns people into jade statues which to me is a reference to the white witch in Narnia who turns people into stone statues.

Other fun discoveries which I don’t know the reference to

There is a male pandaren fishing from an island in the Jade Forest. His name is Ky-Le the Traveller and he says “Here we are in the land down under. It is just as beautiful as the stories I was told as a cub on the Wandering Isle. Though the fish could be larger.”

I discovered this when I was digging for fragments in Kun-Lai. It looks like a cat and made me think of Hello Kitty.

Skeletons of dinosaurs or some kind of similar animal surrounded by roses in Vale of Eternal Blossoms.

A wooden raft with a skeleton, a doll and two birds who look alive cause they move their heads. It can be found in the Jade Forest.

I have no idea who this guy is! But he can be found in Mistfall Village in Vale of Eternal Blossoms. Right now he makes me think of the Lilo & Stitch movies and Elvis, but that might be because I just watched those movies.

There are plenty of other easter eggs and references in Pandaria, too many to mention them all, though I wish I had them all listed.

What’s your favorite discovery in Pandaria?

My guild, Ash, has been doing very well this patch and especially after we started on heroic modes. It surprised me that we got this far so fast cause we usually get stuck on some boss or have trouble with getting a full raid, but not this time. We only raid three days a week but we still try to do our best and get as far as we can cause we all want to progress and see all heroic content.

We started out in Throne of Thunder heroic and killed Jin’rokh March 21th, Horridon April 7th, Tortos April 14th, Megaera April 28th, Ji-Kun May 5th, Iron Qon May 19th, Council of Elders May 23th, Primordius May 28th, Durumu June 2nd and Twin Consorts June 4th. So our kills have been continuous till now, but we might be a bit stuck on Dark Animus which I’ve heard is one of the hardest bosses, so much RNG and things that annoy the shit out of us, but we almost had him last week, or well, we had a few very good tries so hopefully we will get him down this week and face Lei Shen next week!

I think all bosses are very well made but some are really annoying like Tortos with all those spinning turtles which knockback you if they get close, Megaera with the frost beams you have to kite across the room, and Iron Qon with the tornadoes… I’m not sure if I have a favorite boss yet, cause there is something annoying with every one of them and I’m starting to get a bit bored of farming the same bosses over and over again, I’m more into progressing, but Ji-Kun is kinda fun when I’m in the fly group and Primordius cause I’m mostly on the small adds.

I’m really looking forward to Lei Shen cause it’s supposed to be very hard and it’s a fun fight on normal so it can only be better on heroic, or that’s what I hope.

If you play with your own music on or without ambient sounds you might have missed this, or if you’re just too busy and always rushing around to get things done. Maybe you should stop for a while, turn up your ingame sound and ambience and listen carefully.

You might know the story, maybe you’ve played Warcraft 3 and seen the cinematic, about how Arthas returned home to Lordaeron after claiming Frostmourne in Northrend and losing his last remnants of sanity. The people were celebrating his return but he went straight in to see his father. Arthas knelt before him and the Lich King in Arthas mind said “You no longer need to sacrifice for your people. You no longer need to bear the weight of your crown. I’ve taken care of everything.” Then he approached his father at the throne, lifted Frostmourne and drove it through him.

“This kingdom shall fall, and from the ashes shall arise a new order that will shake the very foundations of the world!”

Their dialogue can still be heard as echoes through the throne room in the ruins of Lordaeron. But there are other echoes there too, words and sentences which are harder to hear and understand and some of them aren’t part of their dialogue in the cinematic, I can’t find them anywhere on the internet.

I’ve been trying to figure out these sentences but nothing really matches and I’m still not sure what they say.

But these echoes of voices aren’t the only things you can hear in Lordaeron. If you start walking from the courtyard and enter the first room with the broken bell, you can hear the echoes of the bell ringing when Arthas returned. When you continue to the next room, the hallway, you can hear crowds of people cheering and applauding and if you look down on the ground you can still see the rose petals. The next room is the throne room where Arthas killed his father, this is where you can hear echoes of their conversation and everything that happened, plus these sentences which I can’t figure out what means or where they are from. You can also see blood on the floor near the throne.

I love how they’ve done this, to make us remember what happened, it’s there but not everyone have noticed it.
